My bae Cass and I just moved into Collinghood and thought we would go out for a lil welcome to the neighbourhood. This is how it rolled out.
- Paradise Alley: has it’s own graffiti alley, a pool table room, a motorbike workshop and décor out of a East Bentleigh house from 1963. Food was AWESOME and the baes were errywhere. Normally a go-er but not on a Saturday night cos we aren’t cougars (erryone was early 20s).
- Robert Burns Hotel: saw our loved up Maddawgs Shaun and Domi having a bevvo. Dropped in to tell them to meet us at The Tote later. She was like ‘nah am tired’, he begrudgingly said ‘k’. Good Spanish food, kewl pub vibe. Am a fan.
- Grey Area: exhibition space slash bar that serves tinnies and has a DJ that was dropping everything from Deep Forest to early 90’s hip to the hop. There was a limbo stick set up on some speakers for whoever felt like going under it, and some street artists painting up the side area. The peeps were kewl AF, as were the clientele, some of who were in their PJs.
- The Tote: went to see Hexdebt play but my frand Aife (in the black) FB’d me to say they weren’t on cos so-and-so had a sore tummy but I don’t check socials ever D’OH so we still showed up on time ready to rock. Shaun showed up with his friend Shawn , so we all had a pint and S#2 told us when he was in the army in Singapore he saw two people burn to death.
- Nighthawke: traditionally I absolutely love this place. They play bangers non-stop, the vibe is AWESOME and the ppl who go here are kewl as. HOWEVER on this eve the 3 x bar staff were TOTAL jerks. It was 1230am and the 2 x Shauns and 2 x us were the only people in the entire bar. ‘Can I have four shots please’: ‘Yeah’; ‘Thanks, would you mind giving me a tray so I can take them out the back?’; ‘No’; ‘Ummm ok would you mind helping me carry them?’; ‘No’, ‘Aren’t you in hospitality?’; ‘I serve drinks, it’s not my job to take them to you’; ‘But there are three of you and no one else here?’; *shrugs and turns his hipster back to me*
- Some guy called Steve’s bday: not sure where this was, but we showed up to some guys 40th that we weren’t invited to. Everyone was a bear. I signed Steve’s b’day card and we bounced.
- Dr Morse: LOVE this pub next to Vic Station. It serves awesome food AND it has a fire place and a beer garden. And babes.
- Lulie Street Tavern: looks like it used to be a garage? Wine barrels, tall stools, super laid-back bar with a pool table that S#2 and I slaughtered. Think we got kicked out? Can’t remember. S#1 bailed.
- The Rochey: The Final Three went to The Rochey. Not sure why or what happened but I ended up in bed with a Maccas bag.
